The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is dedicated to the 1.7 million men and women of the armed forces of the British Empire that died in the First and Second World Wars. The database can be searched with many options available.
There are several options available in a basic search. These include last name, first name or initials, cemetery or memorial, service number, country commemorated in, regiment and war.
Selecting “New Zealand” as the country commemorated in returns New Zealand cemeteries and memorials. Note that the vast majority of those listed are from NZ, however there are also those from other countries included.
How to Find New Zealand War Dead at CWGC?
Beyond the basic search options, there are additional fields available. Selecting “Served with Country” allows you to select New Zealand as an option. This will narrow your results to only those that served with the New Zealand Defence Force.
