Search a volunteer compiled database of serious offenders gathered from court and media information spanning back to 2001. The search is provided by the Sensible Sentencing Trust of NZ and is incomplete. Offender information may also be submitted. Offenders may be sorted by name or date and filtered by way of offences, locations, affiliations, court and sentence. Two databases are kept, one for serious violent offenders, and one for sex offenders and paedophiles.

The Sensible Sentencing Trust believes in an open and transparent Justice System. Unlike other countries, New Zealand does not have a government managed system for the public to access criminal records however SST strongly believes that this is a priority to protect the public and help keep offenders accountable for their criminal actions.

We have been gathering court and media information since 2001 to collate and publish two databases; one for Serious Violent Offenders and one for Paedophiles and Sexual Offenders. They have been set up firstly as a service to the New Zealand public, and secondly in order to encourage the government to make criminal records for this type of offender publicly available online as is done overseas in Australia, the USA, and to a lesser extent Britain.

Please note however:

These databases are not complete. They are a work in progress, and probably always will be;
These databases are created and managed entirely by voluntary labour;
For every offender listed here, we estimate that there another five serious violent offenders or sexual offenders currently in circulation in New Zealand that we have not yet managed to list as yet.
