The New Zealand Automobile association offers the public the option to purchase a vehicle history report online. This will let you know if the odometer has been wound back, the vehicle is registered as stolen, has outstanding finance or has been re-registered.
The reports may be purchased online or over the phone and are emailed to you in a PDF format. To purchase online you’ll need to enter the vehicle details, your contact details and make payment. Vehicle requires the plate or VIN. You’ll also be presented with the option to purchase a valuation report at the same time.
In addition to security interests and odometer history, the report also provides details on the vehicle such as fuel economy and safety rating, import status and ownership history.
