Information, locations and images for over 1000 Memorials located throughout New Zealand. The Memorials Register is a project to document memorials by the History Group, Ministry for Culture and Heritage. People are invited to contribute information and images to the register.
To browse the register, select a region from the list. This will provide you with a map and locations of memorials in that region. Each memorial has a page dedicated to it. This provides in-depth information about the memorial and includes photographs where available. If a roll of honour is available, a link to where you can find the names is sometimes shown.
You may also download the entire KML file of the map to view in Google Earth.
Note that the project has focused on first World War memorials and those from the New Zealand Wars and South African Wars. Future additions including centennial memorials are planned.
